Bone Grafting

Dental implants need to be a particular length and diameter to provide support for the your replacement teeth (crown, bridge, denture). ‘Bone grafting’ are additional procedures that may need to be done prior to implant placement, or perhaps at the same time to allow an implant to be placed in a more favourable position. If you require bone grafting or sinus lift procedures, more information will be provided to you by your Oral Surgeon.

Bone grafting at the time of tooth removal may be required to provide a foundation for future dental implant placement.

The width or vertical height of your jaw may need to be augmented to provide sufficient bone volume for dental implants to be placed into.

Implants that are placed in the upper jaw may lie in close proximity to the maxillary sinus. If there is insufficient bone then augmentation with a procedure called a ‘sinus lift’ may be required.
